Oration Submission
Guidelines for the Submission of Carlo Fonseka Oration
Closing Date for the Submission: 30th April 2023 15th May 2023
- The Carlo Fonseka oration should be based on original and personal work related to the field of Diabetes or Endocrinology in Sri Lanka and should not have been previously presented in a similar context in a public / academic forum.
- A selection committee appointed by the Council of the College will scrutinize the manuscripts and recommend the award of the oration to the most suitable candidate and the decision of the committee shall be final. In the event of no submissions being received, the particular oration may not be awarded for the particular year.
- All submissions will be anonymized before evaluation and each submission will be independently assessed by the selection committee. Please do not have an indication that identifies the place/centre where the study was conducted in the main topic or the body of the submission.
- Authors should abide by publication ethics, especially in the context of avoiding falsification of data, plagiarism, improprieties of authorship, misappropriation of the ideas of others, violation of generally accepted research practices, and material failure to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements affecting research. Oration bibliography should be robust, structured and well-presented using standard reference notations. (e.g. Vancouver citing and referencing style)
- The Council of the SLCE and the Selection Committee has the right to request the authors to submit the data sheets/databases / original images/consent forms etc to confirm the authenticity of the scientific data submitted for the orations.
- There should be no substantial alterations to the submitted text when the oration is delivered.
- The duration of the oration including the introduction will be 45 minutes.
- The following five (05) documents must be emailed as PDF documents to endocrinesl@gmail.com after informing the college office before 16.00 hours on Monday, 15th May 2023.
- The entire oration not exceeding 7500 words (02 copies: one with the name & one without a name)
- An abstract of the oration not exceeding 500 words (02 copies: one with the name & one without a name)
- A brief curriculum vitae (not exceeding two pages) of the author including the contact details.
- Late entries and entries through post/hand will not be accepted. The responsibility of the submission reaching the College lies with the author. Authors are advised to submit ahead of the deadline and receive a confirmation from the office of its safe receipt.
