Dr Manju Chandran is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Director of the Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Unit at Singapore General Hospital. She is the Current Chairperson of the Chapter of Endocrinologists of the College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Her research and clinical interests include Secondary Fracture Prevention, Diabetic, Renal and Rare Metabolic Bone Diseases, Secondary Osteoporosis and the use of new bio-imaging modalities in Osteoporosis. She has won numerous international awards including the IOF-ESCEO International Young Investigator Award for 2013, the prestigious International Osteoporosis Foundation Committee of National Societies Medal in 2015 and her Secondary Fracture Prevention Program at Singapore General Hospital- OPTIMAL was awarded the coveted Gold Star in the Global Capture the Fracture Campaign of the IOF in 2015.
She is the Chairperson of the Appropriate Care Guidelines on Osteoporosis Expert Working Group of the Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE), Singapore. She is an elected member of the Council of Scientific Advisors (CSA) of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and is a Past President of the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore (EMSS). She is also the Treasurer of the Osteoporosis Society of Singapore (OSS) an Executive Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Panel of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). She is a Core Panel Member of the Asia Pacific Regional Consortium for Osteoporosis Prevention and Management as well as a Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Fragility Fracture Alliance. She was the Scientific Chairperson of the 6th IOF Asia-Pacific Regionals as well as Course Co-Director for the IOF-ISCD Osteoporosis Essentials Course in Singapore in November 2016. She is the Organizing Co-Chairperson of the 7th IOF Asia Pacific Congress on Osteoporosis that will be held in Sydney, Australia from Nov 28-Dec 1 2018. She is on the Fracture, Diabetes and Bone and Rare Bone Disorders Working Groups of the Council of Scientific Advisors of the IOF, has published more than 65 papers in international peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Reviews Endocrinology and Osteoporosis International including as an invited author of editorials and commentaries and has been an invited speaker at numerous regional and international conferences in the fields of Endocrinology, Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism.
